It takes tremendous courage to share the most vulnerable parts of yourself with another person. Yet it is in this space of vulnerability that change and growth happens. With a mixture of warmth, empathy, humor and honesty we will work together to alleviate your anxiety, nurture your vulnerability, and uncover (or re-discover) the version fo you that is peaceful and fulfilled.
I take the time to really understand you and how your experiences and patterns fit together. I want therapy to feel useful in your day-to-day life. Whether it’s a new perspective or a concrete strategy, my goal is for you to leave with something that makes life feel more manageable.

My name is Kate. I am a psychotherapist with over 18 years experience in the field. My practice is LGBTQI+ focused, though clients of all identities work with me. Clients come to me to reduce distress and bring ease into their lives. I practice affirmative therapy that is trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and direct. I view therapy as a collaborative journey towards self-discovery, healing, and symptom relief.
I am a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with a professional background focusing on mood disorders, anxiety, and challenges in relationships. I attach importance to the ways issues of culture, race, trauma, family dynamics, and migration influence how we carry ourselves in the world and approach our experiences.
Starting therapy requires courage and strength even when we are in pain or dissatisfied with the way things are. It is difficult to open up to a stranger, to change the familiar ways of dealing with life and people. That is why I believe in providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment, where we will look at recurrent patterns in your life (for example why do you choose "the same type" of partners or feel so lonely or anxious, why do you often have the "same conflicts" with your bosses or friends) and gain insight into unconscious motivations of your behavior.
I specialize in behavioral excess (misuse of substances, sex and food) and mood disorders (anxiety, depression). Because of my belief in personal freedom I try to provide accepting and safe environment where we can talk about you and your life openly.
I am bilingual (Russian/English)and have extensive training in psycholinguistics.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. I am a therapist who will listen to what you need and assist you with achieving your personal goals. During the therapeutic process you will be able to understand more about yourself, as well as what role your environment plays in your life. I work from a trauma informed perspective and will be supportive in exploring how past challenges are currently affecting your life. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within my therapeutic approach, specifically Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which will allow you to learn more about using mindfulness in your life, and in your personal journey through therapy. I have experience working with adults who have Anxiety, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder with a variety of stressors. I look forward to connecting and being able to support you.
