With several years of experience in the behavioral health field, I provide an eclectic, culturally-informed, empowering, person-centered therapeutic relationship. I have worked with people from all backgrounds to navigate significant life transitions such as starting careers, managing higher education stressors, dealing with toxic relationships and work environments, and addressing discrimination based on cultural, race, and gender identities.
My experience includes crisis work where I provided resources and care for those in need during their most challenging times. Through this work I came to understand the importance of examining and questioning the systems within which we all live. I operate from a strengths-based perspective to normalize and affirm my client’s experience while fostering a collaborative environment for treatment planning.
I am passionate about working with people to understand and overcome things such as anxiety, depression, coping with issues relating to the Covid pandemic, anger and mitigating substance use.
Are you pregnant, or in the postpartum time struggling with adjustment to an expanding family with new needs and roles? Are you grieving the loss of a pregnancy? I am a trained and experienced perinatal psychotherapist to walk with you on this journey of transition, adjustment, mood and anxiety changes. New and relearned coping skills can allow individuals to regain self-confidence and solid footing to navigate life's changes.
My name is Amanda Potter, Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker. I received my Master’s in Social Work from Simmons College in 2010. I also have a BA in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College, class of 2005.
I have a background in working with people of many different age ranges, coping with many different issues. Recently I have honed my focus down to working with people coping with grief and loss.
With over 20 years of experience, I bring a broad range of skills and perspectives to my work with individuals, families, couples and groups. I'm a believer that therapy is not a "one size fits all" process. I work with patients on their self-designed goals. My patients describe me as warm, down-to-earth, direct and empowering.
I do my best work with adolescents and adults. My experience spans over 30 years. I focus on each person's strengths and provide support by bolstering their resilience and courage. Together we move toward change and greater health.
