I have found my own personal healing to be intimately connected to nature, and it is here that I believe that we can all begin to rediscover our intrinsic humanity and let go of those things that distract us from our higher selves. In my spare time, I work as an outdoor educator and manage my own private practice and guide Outdoor Retreats
I believe it is helpful and important to translate what is discussed in session and in telehealth meetings into lived experience and real change.
I love working with folks who have lived a life of being misunderstood and feeling "alien" so they can finally experience acceptance and confident authenticity.
I’m glad you’re here! Starting therapy is a big step, and it takes courage. I’m a licensed psychologist experienced in helping people work through trauma, anxiety, and depression. My goal is to provide a space where you feel understood and supported as you move toward the rich full life you desire.
I have been working in the field of mental health since 2004 and obtained my Masters Degree in 2013. My specialties are working with the LGBTQ+ community (I am nonbinary and queer, so if you agree with anything anti-LGBTQ I am not going to be a good fit for you) and have worked with a wide range of diagnostics. My approach is generally to treat someones symptoms to work toward achieving goals rather than leaning heavily on a diagnostic. Reaching out can be hard and I am here to help begin the process of healing and being there to help us become a better you. My goal and desire is to help teach you and provide you the essentials to overcome your obstacles. When life gets overwhelming at times, we forget to take care of ourselves. Depression and anxiety does not have to be a part of your everyday life.
You to become an expert "on you".
You learn about your defenses, your triggers, and your trauma. You learn what your style pertaining to being challenged and attached?
With all that is going on in the world and our community right now, you’ve likely been carrying a lot for a long time. You learned how to get through overwhelming experiences, and on the outside you seem strong...but inside, you feel tired and disconnected. You might not be in crisis, but you know you’re not fully at peace, either. Maybe you want to feel grounded again, or to understand yourself more deeply, or to reconnect with the parts of you that had to go quiet in order to cope. You’re ready for a slower, steadier kind of healing, and a therapist that feels safe and honors your pace.
Hello and Welcome! Taking the initial step of finding a therapist and beginning the journey of healing can be scary and awkward at first. I am glad you are here and I am honored to be let into the life of each person I work with and value the therapeutic relationship most importantly. I am always humbled and amazed at the resiliency and strengths that I am shown through my work with others, and I thank you for sharing a piece of yourself with me. - Meagan Hisscock, LCSW
I love helping people develop skills to improve their lives, communication and relationships. It is important to know that one theory does not meet everyone’s needs, therefore I use many different approaches to helping my clients to build their own best version of themselves.
