My name is Alyssa Hooker and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2022 and my Master of Social Work (MSW) through the Joint Master of Social Work Program between North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2023.
I work with individuals across the lifespan, providing a supportive and collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. My approach is strengths-centered, meeting people where they are while helping them work toward meaningful and realistic goals.
I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, interpersonal stressors, and life transitions. I am familiar with a range of therapeutic modalities and tailor my approach to each person’s unique needs.
A fun fact about me is that I enjoy coffee and spending time with friends and family.
Hello and Welcome! I’m a licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, and Ph.D. in Social Work. With over 10 years experience supporting clients through issues such as trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, and life transitions, my goal is to help others build a life that they find fulfilling and enjoyable. I specialize in stress management, trauma, spirituality, and grief and loss.
I am a bilingual clinical social worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate the complexities of trauma, depression, and anxiety. My practice is built on a fundamental belief: you possess the internal power to reflect on your life, understand yourself from new perspectives, and integrate meaningful changes.
I am the co-director of Cohoba, a nonprofit operating as a community arts and mental health hub in the VAPA Center: you can visit www.cohoba.org for more information.
I’m a therapist who works primarily with young adults navigating transitions, relationships, anxiety, and questions about direction in life. Much of my background has been in programs supporting people through life shifts, where I’ve helped clients build stability, confidence, and a clearer sense of who they want to be. I enjoy working with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about their next steps. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, be honest about what’s going on, and start making meaningful changes.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, you don't have to figure it out alone.
I help adults work through anxiety, ADHD, depression, and the stress of big life transitions so you can move forward with more clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of direction.
I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over a decade of clinical experience, and I bring a calm, grounded presence to the work.
My background spans trauma-informed care, support for college students building self-advocacy and success strategies (especially those with learning differences), and extensive work with the military community — including wounded warriors and their families.
Whether you're navigating a career or life change, managing attention or focus challenges, working through anxiety or depression, or facing relationship stress, I offer a safe, collaborative space where real growth is possible.
Clients often describe me as warm, real, non-judgmental, and direct in a supportive way. I'm LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome people from all backgrounds with a spirit of inclusion and care.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a background in school counseling and emotional wellness support for children, teens, and adults. I may be the right fit if you're looking for someone who: listens and engages with you, creates a space where you can be yourself, validates but also challenges at times, and recognizes the impact of the state of the world, societal expectations, & trauma on your mental health.
