As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, I believe making the decision to come to counseling takes courage and strength. Working with clients for over 15 years, I have witnessed incredible transformations in those who make this decision. My role is to support you on this journey. I work with people from all walks of life from ages 25-95 who struggle with life's challenges, anxiety and depression as well as trauma.
My style is warm, supportive, while also challenging my clients to see new perspectives. Change can be scary, but with reassurance and affirmation, I have seen clients begin to heal. In my experience working with people of all ages, I am able to adapt my approach to how it will best benefit each client.
While my full-time work is as a middle school assistant principal, I have maintained a private practice for the last five years due to my love of working with clients on an individual level. I work with clients from pre-teen to adults with a focus on anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and LGBTQ issues. I also have worked with families to help them navigate the special education world within school systems.
Hi! Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and it’s often the most important one. I specialize in dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, and related mental health concerns, and I am committed to helping individuals from diverse backgrounds work toward their personal goals.
I’m Amanda, and I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves a place where they can show up exactly as they are. I bring warmth, authenticity, and even a bit of humor into the room when it feels right. I want you to feel genuinely seen—not judged—and supported in whatever you’re working through.
I’ve been in the counseling field for over 15 years and hold a PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Tennessee. My experience ranges from private practice and telehealth to correctional mental health, hospitals, and leadership roles in community programs. A. Simms Resume copy
