Since 2017, I’ve supported clients of all ages through experiences of trauma, grief, and life transitions. My style is warm, collaborative, and centered around your unique needs. I draw from trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to help you gain clarity, build coping tools, and reconnect with a sense of stability and self-trust.
As a dedicated mental health professional with a background as a first responder, I understand the profound impact trauma and addiction can have on individuals. I specialize in helping those facing trauma, addiction, and mood disorders by employing evidence-based therapies tailored to every client’s unique needs. I have spent my life working with high-intensity populations and have had the privilege of creating supportive environments, fostering resilience, and helping people achieve lasting recovery. Together, we can navigate your path to healing.
A person may not be able to change tough situations from the past; however, I strongly believe they can strive for healthier understandings and resolutions of present challenges in their lives. My approach to therapy is holistic to help you gain insight and awareness of your capabilities and choices in life. Utilizing an integrative approach, a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, I modify my technique based on your individual needs.
Therapy allows for personal growth and the exploration of daily struggles. As a licensed therapist, I help clients cope with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues including anxiety, depression, identity, phobias, relationship issues, trauma, loss, anger management, and life transitions.
I have a background in special education, adult education, and community counseling. I have worked with clients in a myriad of settings and have taught at the high school and college level. I am looking forward to working with you.
My clients seek to understand and accept themselves and their life experiences. Together we will explore how your past is impacting your present, so you can ultimately move toward a better future.
I work with individuals, couples and families from an attachment and systems perspective, knowing we experience many wounds through relationships but through the right relationships we can also experience healing.
It is important in my work that I allow the client's cultural context inform my treatment.
I’m Karina Smith, LCSW, founder of Bloom Haven Therapeutic Services❀.
