Hello, I have been a licensed psychologist for the past 7 years. I provide a safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive space where clients feel seen and heard. My approach integrates evidence-based, strength-focused therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Process, and Solution-Focused techniques. Together, we’ll work to help you navigate life transitions with resilience and self-compassion.
I offer therapy in both English and Spanish and warmly welcome clients from diverse backgrounds.
I try every day to be an authentic human who loves and respects the individuality of all other humans. Being a clinical social worker for 25 years, is reflected in my personal values and faith system. My goal is to spread kindness like confetti which has spanned serving in Baltimore, Jacksonville, Atlanta and Eagle County, CO. I have a solution focused mindset, believe in the mind body connection and giving ourselves grace. Life is not always easy and sometimes we need short term professional support, some sunshine, a deep breath, a 20 second hug and some new found eyes on the situation.
After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colorado State University, I worked in the corporate world as a business consultant. While working as a consultant, I frequently observed how people’s hectic work schedules and day-to-day stressors could slowly wear them down emotionally, resulting in their happiness being compromised.
Seeing this trend in the business world, coupled with the passion I’ve always had for understanding people’s thinking and way of doing things, prompted me to pursue my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from University of Colorado Denver. Now with my professional experience and educational background, I can more easily navigate how to handle the day-to-day stressors and help my clients manage the mental health piece of their lives.
I have a Master’s of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Children, Adolescents, and Families, from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. I have over 20 years of providing mental health services to children, adolescents, families, and adults in inpatient, outpatient, and virtual (telehealth) settings. My primary areas of treatment focus are anxiety, depression, ADHD, parenting stressors, family conflicts, and recent life changes.
My journey began with a deep commitment to serving others, which led me to work within the Georgia state prison system. There, I honed my skills in providing support to those navigating difficult circumstances, gaining invaluable experience in crisis intervention and rehabilitation.
Following my time working in the prison system, I had the privilege of working with the U.S. Army, where I provided counseling services to military personnel and their families. As a military spouse myself, I understand the unique challenges faced by military families and am deeply committed to offering tailored support to help them thrive.
My career path then took me to Palmer Lake Recovery, where I worked with individuals struggling with addiction. This role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the complexities of substance abuse and recovery, and I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve lasting sobriety.
Outside of my professional life, I find joy in spending time with my husband, sweet cocker spaniels, and my adult children. My family and pets bring me great happiness and balance, and I understand the importance of a strong support system in maintaining mental health.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your journey toward wellness. Together, we can navigate the challenges you face and uncover the strength within you to create a fulfilling and meaningful life.
I’m Stephen, a Licensed Professional Counselor originally from New York City, now in private practice after several years working with youth and adults in the justice system in Colorado. I specialize in helping teens and adults who are dealing with behavioral issues, anxiety, trauma, anger, and substance use. Outside the therapy room, I’m very active. I love beach volleyball, yoga, running, and calisthenics, all of which inform my strong beliefs about the mind-body connection.
